CNA officers raided Orhei in case of illegal party financing

Chisinau, Oct 7 /MOLDPRES/- Nearly one million lei has been seized by law enforcers following raids in Jora de Jos, Orhei in a case initiated for illegal financing of a political party. One person was detained in the case.

According to the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), "a group of persons allegedly planned actions aimed at compromising the 20 October elections in Jora de Jos, including by bribing voters". Thus, "the money raised was to be used to pay party members, organize events, concerts, hire means of transport, fuel or drivers," CNA said.

During the searches, the law enforcement officers seized funds in various currencies, as well as documents proving the origin and subsequent destination of the money.
