Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - Resources centres will be set up at those 150 early education institutions of Moldova, in order to promote the learning through play, the social and emotional development and the inclusion of children refugees or from socially vulnerable environments. The new centres will be created by the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The centres will work all the day long, providing educational activities in the first part of the day for kindergarten children and in the second part – for children from the vulnerable communities, the ones who belong to other ethnic minority or refugees.
The resource centres will have specially arranged places for reading; they will be endowed with furniture and teaching materials, LEGO and DUPLO sets for the development of the motor and creative abilities, as well as educational kits for teachers and parents. They will also have 70 titles of books from the programme of social and emotional education, as well as other books for stimulating the reading.
The kindergartens were selected following two calls of proposals, in which over 400 early education institutions from Moldova will participate. The criteria of selection regarded, to a great extent, the number of groups from the institution, the space from the proper dimensions and repaired, the number of vulnerable children and refugees from the settlement, the motivation to open such a centre, etc.
