Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - All tyres meant for the road vehicles will be labelled. A decision to this effect today was approved by the government and regards the improvement of the road safety, economic efficiency and the environmental protection.

Under the cabinet’s decision, the label for tyres will contain a QR code for quick access to the European database, the name or trademark of the provider, identifier of the type of tyre, specifications of the tyre’s dimensions, the index of the capacity of loading and the symbol of the category of speed according to the United Nations’ standards.

Also, the label will include the class of the tyre (C1, C2 ore C3), the icon for the efficiency of the consumption of fuel, with the indication of the performance class, as well as the icon for the adhesion to wet surfaces, with details on the performance of this aspect.

According to the authorities’ estimations, these measures will reduce the overall consumption of fuel by about 1 per cent, which is equivalent to an annual cut of 88 million tons of CO2 at the European level.

The technical regulation will enter into force 11 months after the date of its publication in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial), so that the distributors and providers have enough time to comply with the new requirements. The present stocks of tyres will be excluded from these rules for a period of 12 months.
