Electoral body starts printing of ballot papers for polling stations from Moldova

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today started the printing of the ballot papers for the elections due on 20 October. They are to be distributed to the polling stations from Moldova.   

For each type of ballot, CEC will print 2,819, 996 ballot papers. As many as 2, 137, 641 of the ballot papers will be printed in the Romanian language, 676, 979 ones – in Russian, 115 in the Ukrainian language, 3,400 – in Gagauz, 870 – in Romany and 991 ballot papers in the Bulgarian language.   

It is the first the first time ever when the ballot papers will be printed not only in the Romanian language, but also in five languages of the ethnic minorities – Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Gagauz, Russian and Romany.

The dimension of one ballot paper for the presidential polls is of 14 cm the width and 31.7 cm the length and for the republican constitutional referendum – 16 cm the length and 33 cm the width.   

The ballot papers will be printed on dark paper and will differ by colour: smoked gray for the presidential elections and violet for the referendum.

The price of one ballot paper is 0.72 lei for the presidential elections and 0.76 lei for the republican constitutional referendum. The value of all ballot papers is of 4.17 million lei.  

The ballot papers printed will be distributed to the electoral bureaus of the polling stations through constituency electoral councils.  

CEC has earlier printed the ballot papers for the polling stations from abroad and for the ones due to vote by correspondence.

Presidential elections and a republican constitutional referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union will take place in in Moldova on 20 October 2024.
