Moldovan PM pays visit to Soroca district

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean on 12 October paid a visit to the northern Soroca district. The PM discussed with people from the settlements visited. Recean assured that the authorities would continue developing the country. ‘’We have started the country’s reconstruction and we cannot stop now – the projects underway must be carried through,’’ Dorin Recean said.
The prime minister noted that there was no settlement in Moldova which had not benefited from project within the European Village Programme. In the Soroca district, according to Recean, projects worth over 160 million lei were carried out. ‘’We were with the people good managers from Soroca’s villages. Almost each village of Moldova benefits from at least one project through the European Village programme, which improves the infrastructure, medical system, leisure areas and, in general, the people’s living. Sixty projects worth over 162 million lei have been already carried out in Soroca. We started the country’s reconstruction and we cannot stop now – the projects underway must be carried through,’’ Recean said.
Dorin Recean highlighted the valuable support provided by the European Union for Moldova’s modernization. He gave assurances that the authorities were resolute to improve the living conditions in Moldova, in line with the European standards. ‘’All of us want to live well; to have well-paid jobs, endowed schools and to develop businesses. The European Union is the best model of economic development and stability. On 20 October, we vote YES at the referendum and we vote for Maia Sandu as president. We consolidate as society and work together for a better future,’’ Dorin Recean also said.
The Soroca district is placed 160 km far from the country’s capital; it has 68 settlements and about 99,500 residents.
According to data by the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), 917 projects have been implemented all over Moldova through the European Village national programme, launched by Maia Sandu: aqueducts were constructed, public buildings, monuments were renovated, crèches were built and urban plans were worked out. Another 730 projects are under implementation.
For the 2024-2028 period, the European Village National Programme of local development provides for investments worth over 5.3 billion lei in the local development. A sum of more than 2.5billion lei will be provided from the state budget, through the National Fund of regional and Local Development.
The draft programme was elaborated by MIDR, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the government of France.
