Moldovan electoral body says 13 October last day when applications for observers' accreditation can be submitted

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The applications on the accreditation and monitoring of the presidential elections and the constitutional referendum, due on 20 October, can be submitted till today, 13 October, and the ones for the confirmation of journalists – till 15 October.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the applications on observers’ accreditation can be submitted by public associations, training and research institutions in the electoral sector from Moldova, electoral authorities from abroad, international organizations, governments of foreign states, NGOs from abroad, as well as international experts in the electoral field.
Also, 15 October is the deadline for asking for the confirmation of journalists for the coverage and monitoring of the elections.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the CEC’s communication, public relations and mass media department, Rodica Sirbu, said that, so far, the Commission had accredited 278 international observers and 1,148 national ones.
The elections for the office of Moldova’s president will be held in Moldova on 20 October 2024. On the same day, a republican constitutional referendum will take place, during which the citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the Constitution’s amendment for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
