Electoral body warns three candidates for Moldovan president's office

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) have taken note of the reports and information on the electoral campaign of the candidates for the office of Moldova’s president. They imposed sanctions as warning to three contenders.
At a CEC’s meeting, the Commission members found out that, so far, seven electoral contenders had submitted the information on the opening of the account titled, Electoral Fund.
Taking note of the reports submitted, CEC warned independent candidate Victoria Furtuna about the obligation to observe the normative framework concerning the compulsoriness to inform, in a three-day period, the electoral body about the non-opening of the bank account with the title, Electoral Fund.
Also today, CEC imposed sanction as warning to the electoral contender, Party for Moldova’s Future Political Party, which nominated Vasile Tarlev as candidate for Moldovan president’s office. The Commission found out that that financial means had been used without their preliminary declaring at the Commission in the way established.
An independent candidate, Andrei Nastase, was warned for the late submission of the report on financial management.
The Commission imposed sanction as warning to independent candidate, Tudor Ulianovschi. After considering the reports, CEC found out that the candidate had used financial means without their preliminary declaring at the Commission in the way established; the obligation of assessing the work of the volunteers indicated in the report was ignored and the use of services and material means non-declared in the report on financial management was ascertained. Taking into account the amount of the infringements, CEC imposed to independent candidate Tudor Ulianovschi also the additional sanction in form of deprivation of the free of charge air time for a period of 48 hours.
The elections for the office of Moldova’s president will be held in Moldova on 20 October 2024. On the same day, a republican constitutional referendum will take place, during which the citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the Constitution’s amendment for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
