Old-style Orthodox Christians celebrate Holy Protection of Mother of God

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - The old-style Orthodox Christians today celebrate the Holy Protection of the Mother of God.

Priests say that the Holy Protection of the Mother of God represents support, help and protection for everything and the people who pray to the Mother of God will be protected.

The miracle of the Holy Protection of the Mother of God took place at the Church of Saint Mary of Blachernae from Constantinople, during the rule of the Emperor Leo VI the Wise (886-912). The Mother of God appeared during an all-night-long vigil, surrounded by saints, praying to God for all the mankind.

The Dedication Day is marked in Orthodox churches from more settlements of Moldova on 14 October, including in the Moldovan capital, Chisinau.
