Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania Luminita Odobescu today told her counterparts from the European Union that it was essential to consolidate Moldova’s resistance, in order to counteract the Russian propaganda and the hybrid threats which boosted before the elections and the constitutional referendum on the European integration, which will take place on 20 October.
According to the website, www.caleaeuropeana.ro, Odobescu made these statements within press declarations made in Luxembourg, on the occasion of the monthly meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council – the working formation of the EU’s foreign affairs ministers.
“Today, we will adopt a new package of sanctions against five people and an entity, who participated in actions of Moldova’s destabilization,’’ the Romanian foreign affairs minister said.
At the same time, she noted that, as Russia’s attacks intensify before the winter, EU must continue the support for Ukraine and also for Moldova, in the energy sector.
“I welcome the adoption of the new regime of sanctions on Russia’s destabilization actions against Ukraine and support the adoption of new restrictive measures. As far as Moldova is concerned, it is essential that we convey a clear political message of support before the presidential elections and the referendum on the accession to EU. I welcome the visit of president von der Leyen to Chisinau and the adoption of the Plan on growth, which will stimulate the reforms and the economic growth of Moldova in the next year. Also, it is essential that we consolidate the resilience of Moldova, in order to counteract the Russian propaganda and the hybrid threats, which intensified before the elections and the referendum,’’ Luminita Odobescu said.
