Over 1,000 farmers of Moldova hit by extreme weather conditions of 2024 year ask for state's assistance

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) today informed that it had finished the reception of applications for the allocation of financial assistance meant for farmers hit by the extreme weather conditions of this year. Thus, 100 million lei will be allocated from the government’s intervention fund to partially compensate the damages inflicted because the drought and heat to wheat and maize crops.
During 13 September – 11 October, AIPA received 1,063 applications for financial assistance. Most applications received are from the districts of Cahul: 143 applications, Cantemir: 110 applications; Glodeni: 68 applications and Orhei: 67 applications.
The financial support is provided to the farmers who recorded losses of at least 60 per cent in maize or 70 per cent in wheat, according to the damage inspection reports.
