Moldova, Romania sign protocol on cooperation in sports sector

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - A protocol on cooperation in the sports sector today was signed in Chisinau between the Education and Research Ministry (MEC) of Moldova and the National Agency for Sport (ANS) from Romania. Under the document, representatives of the two institutions are to elaborate a joint action plan to support activities of the sportspeople from both states.     

The document was signed by Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun and ANS head Elisabeta Lipa, in the presence of Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu.    

After the protocol’s signing, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that the today’s event represented an important step for the sport from Moldova.   „We continue a nice cooperation with ANS. Romania helps us on many dimensions. We have this protocol on cooperation between ANS and MEC, which lays the foundation for the actions which we will carry out in continuation. The document consolidates the relation which we have had so far and we will turn it to good account together. This is a beginning of a relation which will be advantageous for both sides,’’ Dan Perciun said.     

The head of ANS Romania, Elisabeta Lipa, said that the relations between Romania and Moldova in the sports field ‘’are very good. ’’From this moment on, we can officially start this nice road of sport of high performance. One cannot do sport by himself; the results are made in team. When the team is strong, the results will surely come. I am sure that we will be able to do nice things for the future of our children,’’ Elisabeta Lipa said.   

The protocol signed today has the goal not only to promote the sports excellence, but also create a friendly environment for the long-term cooperation between the sports institutions of Moldova and Romania. The joint projects coming from this cooperation will back both the mass sport and the performance sport, encouraging young people to actively participate in the sports life.  

The document envisages exchanges of experience and good practices between specialists from sports, organization of joint competitions and probations for training sportspeople from both countries. Special emphasis will be put on the promotion of sport for children, women and people with disabilities.
