Around 3,000 medical workers to get compensation for transportation costs

Chisinau, Oct 16 /MOLDPRES/- Government will compensate transportation costs for medical and pharmaceutical workers who work in public institutions in localities other than those where they live.
The cabinet approved today the Regulation on compensation for round-trip travel between home and work.
According to the government's communication department, at present, about 3,000 medical workers incur expenses from their own sources to commute. The compensations will be offered to keep the employees in the institutions to which they have been assigned.
"It is a priority for us to keep medical staff in the system, especially in rural areas, small towns, where there is a much greater shortage of human resources compared to urban areas," Health Minister Ala Nemerenco said.
Thus, the implementation of the decision will contribute to providing health institutions with the necessary human resources, and citizens will have access to quality medical services.
In total, more than 12 million lei will be allocated for compensation, the money is not allocated additionally, as it is already included in the budget of the Ministry of Health and in the medium-term budgetary framework for 2025-2027.
