Moldovan PM has meeting with president of Romanian National Agency for Sport, head of Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee

Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has had a meeting with the president of Romania’s National Agency for Sport, multiple Olympic champion Elisabeta Lipa and the head of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Olympic champion Mihai Covaliu, the government’s communication department has reported.
The sides discussed the results achieved by Moldovan sportspeople at the Paris Olympic Games, the support provided by the government for the development of sport and deepening of the cooperation in this sector between Moldova and Romania.
The PM noted that the education of a sound nation was one of the cabinet’s priorities, so that the state will continue investing in the development of sport and is interested in taking over Romania’s experience as regards the attraction of private companies in backing this field.
The prime minister also said that, under the Sport 2030 development strategy, in the next years, polyvalent halls and football stadiums would be constructed and rehabilitated in district centres. At the same time, the government will built a national football arena and will improve the sports infrastructure in the district sports schools.
Also, PM Dorin Recean stressed that, through the European Village Programme, 133 sports fields and halls had been constructed in settlements from Moldova.
In the end, Dorin Recean welcomed the signing by the Education and Research Ministry and the Romania’s National Agency for Sport of a Protocol on cooperation in the sports sector. The document sees that Moldova and Romania exchange experience and good practices as regards the promotion of policies in the sports field, as well as the organization of joint sports events.
