Moldovan citizens to be able to vote based on identity card, passport on election day

Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan citizens of Moldova and from abroad will be able to vote based on the identity card or the passport on the election day.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the people will be able to exercise their right to vote based on the identity card of the Moldovan citizen, which confirms the domicile or the temporary residence of the voter on the territory of the polling station.
At the same time, the citizens will be able to vote based on the provisional identity card, with the mentions on Moldova’s citizenship, the domicile or temporary residence of the holder.
Also, people will be able to vote based on the passport of Moldova’s citizen, including with expired validity term.
Also, CEC said that the voters with residence in one of the settlements from the Transnistrian region would be able to vote based on the identity card of Moldova’s citizen and the provisional identity card, which confirms the domicile or the temporary residence of the holder in the settlements of the Transnistrian region, including the ones with residence in the area of the Bender municipal electoral constituency and the Chitcani commune, the villages of Cremenciug and Gisca of the Causeni district.
The presidential elections will be held on the next Sunday, 20 October 2024. On the same day, the republican constitutional referendum will take place. The citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
