Chisinau, Oct 17 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan-Romanian bilateral cooperation in justice will be deepened. An action plan between the Moldovan Ministry of Justice and the Romanian Ministry of Justice for 2025-2027 was signed today in Chisinau by the heads of the two ministries.

Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru thanked Romanian colleagues for the support, including for the harmonization of our country's legislation with that of the European Union.

"Your presence in Chisinau underlines our shared commitment to European values and our desire to build a better future for our citizens. It also shows that Romania is a reliable friend of our country and we thank you for cooperation. Today, we were able to sign together the new action plan in justice for 2025-2027, based on Article 6 of the cooperation agreement between our ministries signed in Bucharest in 2010. This new action plan confirms the common intention to continue the inter-ministerial cooperation and will significantly contribute to increasing the capacities of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova to advance the reforms in the justice sector, as well as to fulfill the actions set following the Screening which is currently underway in Brussels", Mihailov said.

She added that Romania will also support the alignment of Moldova's legislation with the European one and will send experts to assist Chisinau authorities. Prison staff will also benefit from training provided by Romanian colleagues.

Bucharest's justice minister Alina Gorghiu reiterated support for the Chisinau government, saying that Chisinau deserves to become a European city.
