PM says Moldova in decisive moment, Moldovans to defend children's future

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is in a decisive moment and only we, the Moldovans, must decide where our country will move. On Sunday, 20 October, the citizens will make the choice: either we go back to the past, lonely, without resources for development, vulnerable before challenges or we move to the future, to the family of civilized countries, which help us modernize the country and live in peace. Prime Minister Dorin Recean today evening made statements to this effect in a message for the citizens, in the context of the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum, due to be held on 20 October.   

The PM drew the citizens’ attention to the fact ‘’that a group of thieves tries to deceive the people, to promise them money, to deliver fake news to them, to call and deceive them.’’ In the context, the official urged all people to be attentive, noting that ‘’this group tells lies and calls on people to make illegal things.’’ ‘’I ask you not to trust them. Our country is at a decisive moment and only we, the Moldovans, must decide where Moldova will move. Unfortunately, there are still people in the country and abroad who do not want a strong, independent Moldova, where the people decides its fate. They want a Moldova which they can steal and control in their group interests,’’ Dorin Recean said.     

The prime minister also said that, ‘’on the last period, the attempts of destabilization on behalf of the criminal groups checked from abroad have boosted.’’ According to him, ‘’in one month alone, the state’s institutions have documented 15 million euros, 130,000 people paid to sell their vote, in order to create chaos and hinder our country’s entrance into the civilized world, where there is peace and the people live in good understanding and well-being.’’     

„The General Police Inspectorate made 350 searches on criminal files, detained hundreds of perpetrators, imposed over 250 fines, raised tens of millions of lei, dirty money prepared for the committing of offences. The crime ring plans to call hundreds of thousands of people on the voting day, in order to frighten them, deceive or promise electoral bribe. Once again, dear citizens, do not fall into the trap of bandit-like unlawful acts,’’ the prime minister said. He thanked those 2,000 police employees for the fact that they work above the norm, in order to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.     

The prime minister gave assurances that the state’s institutions would fulfill their duty and would protect the free vote of the citizens and the democratic processes. ‘’But the ceasing of the attack against democracy depends on you, dear citizens. On Sunday, you make the choice: either we return to the past, lonely, without resources for development, vulnerable before challenges or we move to the future, to the family of civilized countries, which help us modernize our country and live in peace, just as we want. I am confident that the Moldovans will never allow being deceived and their fate to be dictated by dirty money and purchased votes. They want to sell our future. We, vote after vote, from Ocnita to Cahul, from Ungheni to Stefan Voda, will defend by voting the future of our children, as we choose to live in freedom and peace. On Sunday, the power at each citizen of our country, the power is with you; go to vote,’’ Dorin Recean also said.     

On 20 October, Moldova’s citizens with right to vote are expected to go to vote at the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum, in order to facilitate the accession to the European Union.
