Friday - last day of electoral campaigning

Chisinau, Oct. 18 /MOLDPRES/- Friday is the last day when electoral campaigning is allowed for the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum scheduled for October 20.

During a press briefing, the president of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Angelica Caraman, said that electoral campaigning is strictly prohibited on election day and the day before it.

"Today is the last day of the election campaign, when the 11 candidates registered for the position of president and the 15 participants in the referendum can campaign. The local public administration and advertising broadcasters have the obligation to remove electoral advertising materials. The ban does not apply to information already placed on the Internet. During this period, the appearance of election candidates and referendum participants on television or radio broadcasts is also not allowed", Caraman said.

According to the Criminal Code, the continuation of electoral agitation on the mentioned days by the media, candidates and citizens is an administrative offense and is sanctioned with a fine from 2,000 to 3,000 lei to private people, and a fine from 5,000 to 7,500 lei, applied to the legal entity.
