Onam is the greatest and most important festival from the Indian state of Kerala, held during ten days in August-September and marks the return home of the legendary king Mahabali. According to the legend, during his reign, Kerala witnessed the golden age. All people of the state were happy and prosperous and the king was quite respected by his subjects. Besides his qualities, Mahabali had a drawback – egoism. Therefore, at the festival, people show him how happy they are, through music and dance.
