President of Central Electoral Commission says electoral bodies prepared, determined to hold elections in best conditions

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - We are prepared and determined to hold these elections in the best conditions. Over 25,000 electoral civil servants will work at the polling stations in all. The president of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Angelica Caraman, has unveiled information to this effect at a news briefing.
The CEC head stressed that the electoral bodies were prepared for the ballot due on 20 October.
„On 19 October, the polling sections will be arranged for the reception of voters. For the ballot, CEC organized 1,988 polling stations in Moldova, of which 30 are for the citizens on the left bank of Dniester. Voters will be able to vote at 288 polling stations abroad. Their locations can be found on the webpage of the Commission, www.diaspora.cec.md,’’ Angelica Caraman said.
CEC printed 7.3 million ballot papers for the presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum.
„About 1.7 million of the ballot papers were printed for the voters from abroad. For these elections, the ballot papers were printed in five languages of the ethnic minorities. On 17 October and today, the ballot papers printed are carried to the constituency electoral councils and on 19 October, they will be delivered to the electoral bureaus of the polling stations,’’ Angelica Caraman said.
The CEC president urged all citizens of Moldova and from abroad to vote with confidence. ‘’Through your vote, you contribute to the consolidation of the democracy in our country. In this way, you contribute to a better future for the citizens and for the country,’’ Angelica Caraman added.
The presidential elections will be held on 20 October 2024. On the same day, a republican constitutional referendum will take place, during which the citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
