Detentions take place following journalistic investigation in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the National Investigations Inspectorate (INI), jointly with anticorruption prosecutors, today carried out more searches within a criminal file on the illegal financing of political parties, initiative groups and electoral contenders, committed in particularly large amounts, as well as electoral corruption.
According to the Police, the crime ring is made up of groups of people both of Moldova and from Russia, with well-determined roles.
On 11 October, INI officers acted on their own initiative, after a media institution had published a journalistic investigation which unveiled relevant information showing the involvement of more people in the committing of the offence of electoral corruption and illegal financing of political parties, initiative groups, electoral contenders or participants in the referendum.
Following the searches, law-enforcers of the Fulger special brigade detained two persons.
