Candidate of Action and Solidarity Party for Moldovan president's office visits Telenesti district

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the Moldovan president’s office, Maia Sandu, on the last day of the electoral campaign, paid a visit to the central Telenesti district. The PAS candidate was accompanied by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. ‘’I discussed with Telenesti residents, who told me that they see their country only in the European Union,’’ Maia Sandu said.       

The PAS candidate for the position of head of state talked with citizens about the projects carried out in the settlements of the Telenesti district through the European Village programme. ‘’The investments in Telenesti, carried out including with European funds, are already felt. In the last years, 44 settlements have benefited from projects worth 140 million lei through the European Village programme; over 36 km of road were repaired between Rezina and Telenesti, which connect eight villages, as well as the road Banesti-Telenesti-Budai; the district hospital was endowed as well. At present, two reservoirs of drinking water are under construction in the city and the extension of the sewerage networks was finished last year,’’ Maia Sandu said.     

The candidate referred to the importance of citizens’ involvement in the democratic decision-making processes. ‘’We would not have managed anything from what we do without the worthy and free people of Moldova. And on Sunday, we will succeed only due to you. Man with man, we build a village and a country; the freedom is edified vote with vote,’’ Maia Sandu said.   

For his party, Speaker Igor Grosu urged the citizens to participate in the elections due next Sunday, as ‘’this voting decides the fate of the country for the next decades.’’   

„I spent the last day of campaign along with Mrs. President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean along with people from Telenesti. The Telenesti city, just as the people from all over the country, has always had a word to say. In the most complicated moments, we united and were in the first line to defend our nation, language and future. Now, on 20 October, we will do this again – we will go to vote and will ask for 2 ballot papers. We will elect the best president, Maia Sandu, and will put Moldova on the map of Europe. We should call our relatives, neighbours, friends and urge them to go to vote.  This vote will decide the fate of the country for the next daces. The vote for Moldova should unite us!’’ Igor Grosu said.    

Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that the ‘’the government, just as it promised, edifies the European Moldova.’’ Also, the official urged the citizens from the country and from abroad to participate in the ballot from 20 October, in order to continue the projects on the country’s development.    

„The Moldovans are wise people and good managers, who want a developed country, in peace and prosperity. The government, just as it promised, edifies the European Moldova. We invest in villages, cities, health and infrastructure – this is our plan for Moldova and this is the only right way of development. From north to south, from the country or the Diaspora, on Sunday, 20 October, the people vote for Maia Sandu as president and YES at the referendum,’’ Dorin Recean said.     

Maia Sandu runs for the second mandate of Moldova’s president, being put forward by PAS for this office. Eleven candidates are registered in race at the presidential election. The day of 18 October is the last day when the contenders can make electoral agitation.  

The presidential elections will be held on 20 October 2024. On the same day, a republican constitutional referendum will take place, during which the citizens will have to answer the question: ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
