Chisinau, Oct 20 /MOLDPRES/- I voted for Moldova to develop in peace and freedom, to build the future it wants and deserves! Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) candidate Maia Sandu made the statement after voting today.
The presidential candidate called on the Moldovan citizens. "Dear citizens, come out to vote. This Sunday we make two important decisions for our country. Take two ballots, vote in the referendum and elect the President of the Republic of Moldova for the next four years. Our referendum vote will determine our fate for many decades to come. Dear diaspora citizens, I know you are worried about your loved ones back home, go out and vote so that they can continue to live in peace", said Maia Sandu.
The PAS candidate emphasized that she voted because "Moldovans have to determine their fate, not others, not dirty money, not lies, but only the will of the people".
"I voted for Moldova to be able to develop in peace and freedom, to build the future it wants and deserves! The referendum is a very important decision, it is the decision of Moldovans and I trust in the wisdom of the citizens. They want to live in peace, they want to live in freedom, they want to decide their own destiny, to build their country as they think best. Go out and vote. Everyone's vote is important, not just a paper stamp. It is your word for your fate! It is the choice that will decide how you will live starting tomorrow! Come out and vote!", Maia Sandu said.
She also referred to the attempts to corrupt voters and noted that it is important that Moldovans in particular decide their fate without being influenced from outside.
"Our institutions have spoken in this campaign and before the campaign about attempts to buy and influence Moldovan votes. We want Moldovans to decide their fate. That is why I urge all citizens to go out and vote for their future and the future of their children. Our institutions are ensuring that these elections are peaceful and orderly, and that is what we are counting on. However, the citizens are the ones who can determine the fate of this country and only their vote can determine what the Republic of Moldova will look like, only their vote can preserve peace and stability", Maia Sandu said.
Maia Sandu is running for her second term as President of the Republic of Moldova, having been put forward and supported by PAS. Eleven electoral candidates are running in the presidential elections.
Presidential elections and republican constitutional referendum are being held in the Republic of Moldova today. Citizens will answer the question "Do you agree with amending the Constitution for Moldova's accession to the European Union?".
