PHOTO // Queues at several polling stations abroad: around 100,000 diaspora citizens cast vote

Chișinău, Oct 20 /MOLDPRES/- Voter turnout at several polling stations abroad is notably high. Data of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows that queues have formed at polling stations in Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Greece, the Russian Federation and Turkey. By 2:00 PM, about 100,000 citizens of our country living abroad had voted in the presidential elections and the referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union.

“The diaspora is an outstanding example of active participation in voting! Wherever they are, Moldovans around the world demonstrate that they care about the future of the Republic of Moldova and are willing to make efforts to vote. Whether they have to travel hundreds of kilometers or wait, they show that every vote counts and that everyone's involvement is essential for a better future. By their presence, Moldovans of diaspora set an example of civic responsibility, showing that real change begins with each of us. Let us follow their example and make our voices heard! Your vote can make a difference!” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the Ministry, queues of over 100 people have been reported at the polling stations abroad:

On Sunday, October 20, presidential elections and constitutional republican referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union are being held in the Republic of Moldova.

In this election, citizens receive two ballots—one for the presidential election and the other for the referendum. In the referendum, citizens will answer the question: “Do you agree with amending the Constitution for Moldova's accession to the European Union?”

There are 11 candidates running for the presidential race.
