More than one million citizens cast vote today

Chisinau, Oct. 20 /MOLDPRES/- More than one million citizens cast their vote in the presidential election and constitutional republican referendum. The figure is about 35% of voters.
The elections can be considered valid, as more than 33.33% of citizens entitled to vote came to the polls. The referendum is to be validated if at least one third of the voters registered in the electoral rolls participate in it.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, of the total number of voters, more than 55% are women, and about 45% are men. The most active voters are those aged between 56-65 (22.40%), and the most passive are citizens over 75 (4.69%). In Chisinau, around 230,000 citizens went to the polls, which is over 35% of the voters.
At the same time, by 2:00 p.m., around 100 thousand diaspora citizens voted in the presidential elections and the referendum on the country's accession to the European Union.
2,714,239 voters are included in the basic electoral lists. Over 7.3 million ballots were printed for the presidential elections and referendum, of which 1.7 million were distributed to polling stations outside the country.
The polling stations were opened at 7:00 a.m. and will remain active by 9:00 p.m.
