Referendum 2024 // After counting of 1,000,000 votes: 44.83 per cent of citizens say YES, 55.29 per cent say NO

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - As much as 44.83 per cent of the citizens have said YES at the republican constitutional referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, while 55.17 per cent said NO, following the processing of 1,018, 440 votes.
Data by the Central Electoral Commission shows that 1,546,757 voters participated in the last Sunday ballot. About 1, 478 958 out of these voters signed in the electoral lists for the reception of the ballot papers at the referendum, which accounts for 49.81 per cent of the votes.
The president of the Central Electoral Commission, (CEC), Angelica Caraman, told a news briefing that, after the reception of the official reports from the constituency electoral councils, CEC would submit to the Constitutional Court (CC) a report on the results of the ballot. For its part, CC will confirm or invalidate the results of the referendum in a ten-day term.
