Discover Moldova with #MOLDPRES: Dragon's Way - new eco-tourist adventure at Old Orhei

In October 2024, the tourism of Moldova was enriched by one more route which calls visitors to a world in which the nature and the legend combine harmoniously on the Dragon’s Way, the newest eco-tourist route in the heart of the Orheiul Vechi (Old Orhei) Cultural and Nature Reserve.      

This spectacular route was created within the project, Eco App for sustainable tourism in Moldova, co-financed within the Polish development cooperation of Poland’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.  

The route provides a unique experience of exploring natural landscapes, full of history and wild beauty. Surrounded by impressive crags and mysterious paths, you have the chance to feel the energy of the legendary Dragon, which has been guarding this region for centuries. The way will be full of captivating stories about the fascinating past of Old Orhei and local guides will reveal well-preserved secrets, bringing to life the magic of each stone.       

What can you expect on the Dragon’s Way?

An unforgettable travel, on an accessible route of 1 hour and 30 minutes, from light to medium difficulty.

Surprising natural landscapes, from the Raut river meandering through crags, up to views which cuts your breath.  

Opportunity to visit the Archaeology Museum, where you will discover the vestiges of an ancient civilization which modeled the history of this region.  

An important step towards the development of the sustainable tourism

The Dragon’s Way route was carried out within the project, Eco App for sustainable tourism in Moldova, co-financed by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Poland and implemented by the National Tourism Office, with the support of Moldova’s Culture Ministry.   

Andrei Chistol, state secretary at the Culture Ministry: This route represents an important step towards the development of the sustainable tourism and of the promotion of the unique heritage which we have here in Moldova. Through initiatives of this kind, we are set to diversity the tourist bid of the Old Orhei Cultural and Nature Reserve, to enhance the tourist activities provided to foreign tourists.
