Over one million lei fines for electoral corruption

Chisinau, Oct 23 /MOLDPRES/- National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA) announced that it has already imposed fines worth about one million lei for electoral corruption. Another 350 reports are under examination.

According to CNA, the 350 reports concern passive electoral corruption, and those investigated risk fines ranging from 25,000 lei to 37,500 lei.

According to the legislation, passive electoral bribery provides for the detection of acts of demanding, accepting or receiving, personally or through an intermediary, by a voter goods, services, privileges or advantages in any form, which are not due to him, for himself or for another person, for the purpose of exercising or not exercising electoral rights in elections.
