Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University of Moldova endowed with highly advanced simulator in endourological surgery field

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - A highly advanced simulator for the development of advanced skills in the field of endo-urological surgery and lower urinary tract today was put into operation at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF). The simulator was purchased within a project financed by the Department for Relation with Moldova (DRRM) at the Romanian government.
The initiative was fulfilled within the titled, Consolidation of the medical education in surgical urology and nephrology through simulation, won by USMF within the non-refundable financing session for projects from the 2024 year. The project financed by DRRM has a budget or 500,000 Romania lei, equivalent to 2 million Moldovan lei.
The event on the simulator’s presentation today took place at the University’s department of surgical urology and nephrology. Attending the event were the DRRM’s state secretary, Adrian Dupu, USMF rector Emil Ceban, members of the department, students, physicians residents and practitioners.
Adrian Dupu said that, due to this project, students, physicians residents and specialists urologists would have possibility to use modern technologies of simulation, meant to provide a more efficient and realist practical experience.
„I am happy to be part of this project, which has a direct impact on the national health system. A quality education is the equivalent of quality medical services. Most citizens said YES at the referendum; EU directly means benefits for the citizens. An example is Romania, where new hospitals are built with European funds. Moldova will benefit from such support as well. We have supported and we will back the quality education in Moldova. Till the end of this year, other projects will be carried out at higher education institutions from Moldova,’’ Adrian Dupu said.
For his part, USMF Rector Emil Ceban thanked the government of Romania for the support provided within more projects carried out.
„The today’s event is of major importance for the country’s medical system. Through the event, we contribute to a high quality medical education. This modern simulator will advance the training of future physicians and the learning through simulation, in order to significantly reduce the risks during surgical interventions. We have a very good cooperation with universities of Romania and their specialists convey us a valuable cooperation. We thank you for this nice cooperation and the support provided through more important projects,’’ Emil Ceban stressed.
