Chisinau, Oct 24 /MOLDPRES/- EU4Business: Connecting Companies (EU4BCC) project evaluated its work with a closing conference organized by Eurochambres today in Chisinau. The event summarized the activities of the program, presenting the achievements and strengthening the links established during the project.

The moderator of the conference, Sergiu Harea, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Republic of Moldova, emphasized the importance of cooperation in the project for the development of our country's economy. "EU4BCC has been a driving force in the support that the Chamber institution offers to local entrepreneurs in accessing foreign markets and promoting Moldovan products and services, as well as to foreign companies in the process of starting business in the Republic of Moldova, developing cooperation with EU member countries in the context of Moldova's integration into the European Union. It will also serve as a platform for networking, reconnecting with fellow participants, exchanging experiences and highlighting best practices and lessons learned", Harea said.

Attending the event, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that choosing the firm path towards the European Union, beyond the benefits that the Republic of Moldova has on several important dimensions, the biggest benefit remains the European single market: "Productivity is the biggest challenge that we must turn into an opportunity. Access to the European single market means access to the richest customers, to the widest development opportunities. We have made a choice and the development of entrepreneurship is a priority. A larger Europe means a stronger, more secure and competitive Europe, and a developed business can make Moldova a prosperous country here at home," he said.

In a hybrid format, the conference brought together around one hundred participants, including representatives of the European Commission, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, national Chambers of Commerce of the EaP, project partners, beneficiaries and other key stakeholders who contributed to strengthening the business ecosystem in the region.

"For us, the European Union means the most sustainable project of peace, justice and the rule of law, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, an education system adjusted to market demand, access to the largest market and sustainable economic development. Since 2014, since the signing of the Association Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Moldova, our country has made significant progress: exports to the EU have doubled, more than 30,000 companies, mainly SMEs, have been supported by the authorities and the EU in adjusting to the new conditions and requirements of the EU market through the purchase of new equipment, technologization, implementation of European standards, etc. This has led to the expansion of Moldovan businesses in the EU, achieving their integration into European value chains, which has generated economic development domestically. EU assistance is and will be visible and real, and entrepreneurs are the EU champions, because most of them understand the benefits of this integration that their businesses will do better in the EU, and we come with a strengthened agenda to help businessmen produce, create jobs and be able to export", Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba said.

Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Mate Csicsai expressed support for our country in developing economic policies, and noted their importance for a resilient and competitive business environment.

The EU4BCC project is co-funded by the European Union and implemented by Eurochambres and aims to deepen and strengthen trade relations between the EU, its member states and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The project was launched in December 2019 and will run until December 2024.
