Chisinau, Oct 26 /MOLDPRES/- Head of state Maia Sandu said today in a video message addressed to Moldovan citizens that she wants the fight against thieves to be carried to the end and not to lose what we have hard won, and to be peace and order in the country.
"Dear Moldovans, maybe you did not go out to vote at all, maybe you voted for another candidate in the first round. I respect your choice. I want you to know that I will protect democracy with all my might, that is, your right and everyone's right to vote freely for whoever they want. I want you to know one thing - even if we sometimes have different opinions, even if you do not agree with everything I do, you and I do not want the thieves to return to power," the head of state said.
Maia Sandu pointed out that "you and I also want to have a respected president, not a weak and controlled one, a president who does not remain silent when injustices are committed in his country, a president who says clearly and openly what he believes in, who does not tell lies and who is respected by everyone, in all countries".
"I admit that we have failed to fully stop vote buying - that justice is still weak and we need to fight corruption harder. This is not working anymore. But I assure you that you and I want to see the fight against the thieves to the end. And not to lose our hard-won gains. The risk of losing what we have is very great if the thieves return to power. You and I want Moldova to be respected, to have peace, order and good life at home," the President concluded.
In the presidential elections held on October 20, current head of state Maia Sandu and Socialist Party candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo won the most votes. The two candidates will fight in the runoff election on November 3.
