Employees and students of USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu" trained by US experts

Chisinau, Oct 28 /MOLDPRES/- Teachers, resident doctors and psychologists from the Department of Mental Health, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova were trained last week by mental health experts from the United States of America.
Members of the team of international trainers were: Laura Ann Roberts, university lecturer, expert in psychological counseling from Herbert H. Lehman College, City University of New York, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, assistant professor, Saybrook University, Pasadena, California, CEO and founder of The Flourishing Center and the Center for Positive Education, and Shimon Mazor, co-founder and chief marketing officer (CMO) of FloatVR.
The American specialists also participated in the International Congress - Beyond Borders: United for Mental Health, where Mazor presented his unique expertise in technology and wellness, bringing innovation in mental health and solutions accessible to wider communities.
A presentation on applied positive psychology was demonstrated by Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, who is also the creator of the renowned certification program in this field, applied in 11 cities in the US, Canada and online, in which over 700 practitioners have been trained so far.
For her part, Laura Ann Roberts spoke to the audience about her experience in the undergraduate and graduate advising program. In addition to her teaching activities, Roberts is a licensed psychologist and counsels children and adults who are experiencing serious psychological conditions.
The working visit of the US specialists continued at the Department of Mental Health, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy of USMF "Nicolae Testemitanu". Mazor organized a workshop entitled "Revolutionizing Mental Health through Virtual Reality: How Technology Can Enhance the Quality of Therapeutic Care", where he proved practices on how virtual reality works in therapy. Afterwards, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya moderated the discussion workshop with resident physicians from the specialty of Psychiatry, to whom she spoke about shaping a successful career and told about her professional path, as well as about development opportunities and global perspectives in mental health.
Two training workshops were organized for the scientific-teaching staff and resident doctors of the specialty Psychiatry: "ADHD treatment for children and adults" and "Dialectical Behavior Therapy". Laura Ann Roberts moderated the activities.
The visit of the international specialists was part of the American Medical Speaker Program, funded by the US Department of State, which aims to transfer knowledge, improve practical skills and strengthen the research and teaching capacities of scientific and teaching staff.
