Chisinau, Oct 28 /MOLDPRES/- "You are well aware of where you are doing your duty and where you are committing a crime, and for you the responsibility is different". The warning came today for the country's legal community from Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu at the end of a press conference where he said that the network of former Shor party's network would not reach such dimensions without the consultation and support of legal experts, who previously worked as police officers, judges, prosecutors or lawyers.
He announced that the authorities are facing an unprecedented situation, and the organized crime octopus has reached impressive dimensions, and not without the help of jurists, who previously held public positions, and now consult members of the former Shor Party.
"The legal community is not that big in this country. Beyond the rush for fees, there is also our honesty. Whose side are you on? Now, this criminal network would not have reached such dimensions without the consultation and support of malicious legal experts, people who previously worked as policemen, judges, prosecutors or lawyers. You are well aware of where you are doing your duty and where you are committing an offense, and for you the responsibility is different, you know that very well and we will apply the law without further warnings. You assume that you are criminals, assume the consequences, even if we have to redouble our efforts. We have strength, capacity, honesty and morality, which you lack," Munteanu said.
He said that several cases initiated on behalf of former Shor Party members are being delayed in court and came with an appeal to his employees.
"I come with an appeal to all prosecutors, officers and lawyers. We are facing an unprecedented challenge. Criminal actions are implemented by organizations and groups that are coordinated and financed from outside the country. They use all the criminal tools of hybrid warfare, regardless of material and financial resources. We know that it is not only our dignity that is at stake, but also our existence as a state. I am convinced that we will overcome these unprecedented challenges, but it will be necessary to engage in a more frank and open dialog on all aspects of legislative and criminal procedural changes", he said.
