Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The governments of Moldova and of the State of Israel have finished the domestic procedures needed for the enforcement of the Agreement on the procedures of conversion of the driving licences, compiled in Jerusalem on 20 March 2024. The agreement entered into force starting from 27 October, this year.

Thus, Moldova’s citizens with residence in the State of Israel will be able to change their Moldovan driving licences of the categories of A, A1, A2 and B, without taking theoretical or practical examinations.

According to the authorities, the document will facilitate the international movement, allowing drivers to legally driver in the two states. The driving licences will be converted without the compulsoriness to take a theoretical or practical exam.

Under the Agreement, the verification of the acts’ authenticity is made directly between the Moldovan and Israeli competent bodies, through contacting the issuing authority. Thus, the administration procedures are simplified, the costs are cut and the time of fulfilment is shortened. The changed driving licence will be returned to the authority which issued it.

Moldova has signed also other treaties on mutual recognition of driving licences with Turkey, Greece, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain, as well as a joint declaration of intent with Germany on the transcription of driving licences.
