Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry updates addresses of polling stations from United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, France for runoff of presidential elections

Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) has urged the Moldovan citizens from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and France to attract attention to the updating of the addresses of the polling stations for the runoff of the presidential elections.   

According to MAE, on the day of the ballot, the electoral civil servants from the polling stations will expect the citizens to come to vote starting from 07:00 till 21:00.   

At the same time, the acts needed to be able to vote remain unchanged. It is about the: valid identity card of Moldova’s citizen; the valid temporary identity card with the provisions on Moldova’s citizenship; the passport of Moldova’s citizen, including with expired validity term.   

Also, the citizens who opted for the vote by correspondence, but received no confirmation on envelopes’ reception, are urged to go to vote to the nearest polling station.   

As many as 228 polling stations were opened abroad for the elections this autumn. For the runoff election, the Central Electoral Commission printed 839,200 ballot papers for the voters from abroad, of which 768,850 in the Romanian language, 69,850 – in the Russian language and 500 in Gagauz.   

Most ballot papers were printed for Italy – 241,000 ballot papers; Germany – 135,000 and France – 94,200 ballot papers.

The smallest number of ballot papers was printed for Japan – 300, People’s Republic of China – 400 ballot papers, Latvia and the United Arab Emirates – 500 ballot papers each.    

More than 240,000 Moldovan electors voted at the polling stations from abroad in the first round of the presidential elections.
