Chisinau, 31 October /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the Moldovan president’s office, Maia Sandu, welcomes the decision of Moldova’s citizens on accession to the European Union and urges them to actively participate in the runoff election, due on 3 November. ‘’The step 2 has remained - to win in the elections on Sunday,’’ Maia Sandu said.
„The Constitutional Court decided: the European integration will be introduced in the Constitution! We have won this battle together and our goal was achieved. This is your merit, dear citizens – due to your vote we were stronger than their theft. On Sunday, we have another battle to wage, so that the accession to the European Union becomes a reality as quickly as possible,’’ Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook account shortly after the validation of the referendum’s results.
The PAS candidate urges the citizens to follow the European integration way also at the runoff of the presidential elections, due to take place on Sunday, 3 November.
„Dear citizens, the great things are made with small steps. The first step has been done. The step 2 remained – to win in the elections on Sunday. Immediately after this, we should make sure that we become an EU member state till 2030. Go to vote, as otherwise, we run the risk of losing all that we have,’’ Maia Sandu wrote.
The Constitutional Court (CC) today confirmed the result of the republican constitutional referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union. The decision was pronounced by CC President Domnica Manole, following more hours of deliberations. The decision is final and is published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial). She noted that there had been two separate opinions by magistrates Sergiu Turcan and Vladimir Turcan.
The runoff of the presidential elections will take place in Moldova on 3 November. The current President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, backed by PAS and the Socialists’ candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo, will fight for the office of head of state.
