Moldovan police document more infringements at presidential elections

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - The General Police Inspectorate (IGP) today till 9:30 documented 11 infringements in the holding of the runoff of the presidential elections. IGP head Viorel Cernauteanu said that the level of work of the Police had been enhanced nearby the polling stations from Moldova.  The decision was taken for the safety of all citizens, but also in the context ‘’of the last events which took place in our country, when different forms of challenges were found out or intentions to commit certain contravention infringements or offences,’’ Viorel Cernauteanu said. 

Among the infringements registered by the Police, there are two cases of unauthorized electoral posting in Chisinau and Soroca; two cases of electoral agitation in Chisinau and Sangerei; two cases of photographing of ballot paper, in Nisporeni and Sangerei.    

At the same time, law-enforcers documented by one case of infringement of the right to vote, in Chisinau and one case of voter’s carriage, in Hancesti. At the same time, in Chisinau and Soroca, incidents were signaled as regards presence of drunk people at polling station, conflicts, hooligan actions.       

IGP also said that, today morning, ‘’an increased flow of transport of people is recorded at the administrative line.’’ 

IGP head Viorel Cernauteanu informed that, at the runoff of the presidential elections, the level of work of the Police had been enhanced nearby the polling stations from all over Moldova.   

„This fact is for the safety of all citizens, but we should note that this process is in the context of the last events which took place in Moldova, when we found out different forms of challenges or intentions to commit certain contravention infringements or offences. This fact prompted us to enhance the level of activity and, of course, for the guarantee of citizens, who should exercise their right to vote in safety and so that we have a fair ballot,’’ Viorel Cernauteanu said.   Viorel Cernauteanu said.  

At the same time, the IGP head specified that, ‘’on this period, we will surely have people who were in the focus of the police and law-enforcers did not manage to identify them or localize them on the last period.’’  

Cernauteanu gave assurances that the law-enforcers would do their utmost to guarantee and ensure the right to vote of each citizen. ‘’If such people about whom I inform are identified, following the documentation by law-enforcers, they surely can express the right to vote; it is important that they do this with their own consent. We recommend that all citizens have an adequate and correct behavior in the society, in order to have a ballot without infringements,’’ the IGP head added.      

The runoff election takes place in Moldova today.
