Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - Her Majesty, Margareta, Custodian of the Crown of Romania, today sent a letter, thereby congratulating Maia Sandu on her reelection as president of the Republic of Moldova.
„I convey you the warmest congratulations on your reelection as president of the Republic of Moldova! It is a great happiness for me to know that you will continue to guide these very old lands on the European way. Just as my predecessors, I am proud of the country which again gave you confidence and hope,’’ Her Majesty, Margareta, said.
She noted that Maia Sandu’s reelection to the office of head of state represents a victory of the democracy and freedom. ‘’This thing means much for those who aspire to a stable and prosperous future of the Republic of Moldova. The Crown of Romania, as well as the Romanian spirit and the national identity, moved further, no matter the evil which hit it. Therefore, I am confident that, although we are at the beginning of the way, and the difficulties will continue, the Romanians, no matter where they are, will prove that all of them are Europeans,’’ Her Majesty Margareta said.
Following the processing of 100 per cent of the official reports, the data shows that about 930,000 of the electors or 55.33 per cent voted for Maia Sandu. At the same time, Alexandr Stoianoglo gained about 750,000 votes, which accounts for 44.67 per cent. The Electoral Code sees that the candidate who picked up the largest number of votes is declared elected.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has at its disposal five days, in order to compile an official report on the tabulation of the results. Subsequently, CEC will submit the official report to the Constitutional Court, along with the report on the results of the presidential elections.
