Ukrainian president congratulates Maia Sandu, invites her to visit Ukraine

Chisinau, 4 November /MOLDPRES/ - President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has congratulated Maia Sandu on gaining victory for the office of head of state at the runoff presidential elections. The official invited Maia Sandu to visit Ukraine.
„I talked with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu and congratulated her on the winning in the presidential elections. On behalf of the Ukrainian people, I expressed solidarity for the European choice of the Moldovan people,’’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Also, the two heads of state reaffirmed their commitment ‘’to work together towards a common goal – affiliation with the European Union.
„We coordinated our next steps and I invited President Maia Sandu to visit Ukraine,’’ Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Following the processing of 100 per cent of the official reports, the data shows that about 930,000 of the electors or 55.33 per cent voted for Maia Sandu. At the same time, Alexandr Stoianoglo gained about 750,000 votes, which accounts for 44.67 per cent. The Electoral Code sees that the candidate who picked up the largest number of votes is declared elected.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has at its disposal five days, in order to compile an official report on the tabulation of the results. Subsequently, CEC will submit the official report to the Constitutional Court, along with the report on the results of the presidential elections.
The head of state is elected for a mandate of four years.
