One person hit by cerebral vascular accident every hour in Moldova

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - One person is hit by the cerebral vascular accident (CVA) in Moldova every hour and every two hours, one person dies or becomes invalid because of this disease. Physicians urge citizens to learn the principal signs of CVA. In this respect, the authorities launched a campaign of getting aware of CVA’s symptoms.
The head of the medical rehabilitation and physical medicine section of the primary CVA Centre of Balti-based Clinical Hospital, Octavian Stirbu, says the patients hit by CVA need a long period of rehabilitation, including psychological one.
Physicians say the cerebral vascular accident can be prevented by a sound lifestyle and regular controls at the family physician. They urge the citizens to know the signs of starting of CVA.
CVA is the principal cause of disability globally and the second reason for death. Over 10,000 people are annually hit by CVA in Moldova, of whom 13 per cent are of the age able for working.
