New director appointed at National Agency for Development of Youth Programs and Activities

Chisinau, Nov 6 /MOLDPRES/- Government appointed Alexandru Petrov as director of the National Agency for Development of Youth Programs and Activities today.

Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun made the proposal at the cabinet meeting.

"Alexandru Petrov has extensive experience in the youth field, having spent more than 10 years in UNICEF Moldova, where he coordinated programs for youth. He has also worked in the youth sector as Secretary General of the National Youth Council of the Republic of Moldova. The priorities for the next period as head of the National Youth Agency will be to strengthen the network of youth centres, find a way to finance them, including from the state budget, strengthen and involve more students in decision-making processes at school, involve more young people in decision-making processes at local public authorities and mobilize students to be more active in university life," said Dan Perciun.

Also today, the Government decided to dismiss Svetlana Țurcanu as head of the State Financial Control Inspectorate, based on her resignation.
