WE BRING EUROPE HOME: new social service financed by EU for south-eastern Moldova village

Chisinau, 6 November /MOLDPRES/ - Due to financing provided by the European Union, a new social service was launched in the Salcuta village, south-eastern Causeni district: social washhouse, meant for backing people from socially vulnerable groups by ensuring the free of charge access to washing services and specialization activities.
The service was developed by the VICON Public Association, in partnership with the local public authorities, within a project titled, Social washhouse from Salcuta village – local partnerships for a clean, inclusive and sustainable community.
Over 200 people from the Salcuta village will benefit from this new service, who will have free of charge access to facilities of washing clothes, possibility to participate in diverse activities of socialization, meant to improve the quality of life and promote the social inclusion. As for people who cannot move, the team of volunteers will provide the carriage of clothes to and from the washhouse, by using bicycles, in order to provide an efficient and ecological service.
The project’s overall budget is of about 28,000 euros, to which is added a contribution of 62,000 lei (3,100 euros) on behalf of the local authorities. These funds were used for the renovation and endowment of the space made available by the mayoralty, equipment with washing and drying machines, adequate furniture and arrangement of a room for socialization and counselling activities.
