President of China congratulated Maia Sandu on presidential election victory

Chisinau, Nov. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Maia Sandu on her re-election as President of the Republic of Moldova.

Xi Jinping said "China and Moldova are traditionally friendly partners," adding that "in recent years, bilateral relations have developed steadily, and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative has made significant progress."

The Chinese President said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Moldova relations and said he is ready to work with Maia Sandu "to guide these bilateral relations towards steady and long-term growth".

Maia Sandu was elected for a new term as President of the Republic of Moldova following the runoff election on 3 November.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the People's Republic of China were established on January 30, 1992. The bilateral legal framework includes 61 signed agreements in various fields and five draft agreements.
