Victor Furtuna wins contest for office of chief prosecutor of Moldova's Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - Victor Furtuna today won the contest for the office of chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combatting the Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS).    

The members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) today carried out the exam of interview of those three candidates left in the contest for the position of  chief prosecutor of PCCOCS. At the same time, the candidate for the office of PCCOCS chief prosecutor, Alexandru Machedon, withdrew his candidacy from the contest.     

Victor Furtuna was the first to participate in the interview exam. Subsequently, the other two candidates, Ion Negurita and Andrei Matco, were interviewed. Each candidate had at his disposal one hour to unveil the concept of management and institutional development and answer questions.     

During the interview, the special commission evaluated the candidates, including through the light of their professional skills in the field of combating the organized crime and special causes. 

The special commission for preselection of the candidates for the office of PCCOCS chief prosecutor is made up of two members from Romania, nominated by President Maia Sandu and Justice Ministry – Laura Stefan and Gabriela Scutea and three members put forward by CSP: Igor Dolea, Sergiu Russu and Marcel Dumitras.  

In late last August, the Superior Council of Prosecutors informed that four candidates would fight for the position of PCCOCS chief prosecutor. The contest for selection of the PCCOCS chief prosecutor was resumed following more failed attempts.
