Winner of competition for chief prosecutor of PCCOCS to be subject to external evaluation

Chisinau, Nov 8 /MOLDPRES/- Victor Furtuna, the winner of the competition for the post of chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), is to be subject to external evaluation. Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru made the statement today.
The official said that the evaluation of the candidates for the PCCOCS chairmanship was based on an evaluation sheet structured on eight criteria. "In the end, the winner of the contest was Victor Furtună, who got the highest score. In accordance with the provisions of Law No. 252/2023, he is to undergo the external evaluation procedure," the minister wrote.
Yesterday, the members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) conducted the interview of the three remaining candidates in the competition for the post of chief prosecutor of the PCCOCS. At the same time, the candidate for the position of Chief Prosecutor of the PCCOCS, Alexandru Machedon, withdrew his candidacy from the competition.
Each candidate had one hour to present the concept of management and institutional development and answer questions. In the end, the highest score was awarded to Victor Furtună.
In late August, the Supreme Prosecutor's Council announced that four candidates will fight for the position of Chief Prosecutor of the PCCOCS. The competition to select the chief prosecutor of the PCCOCS was restarted after several failed attempts.
