Heating compensation to be paid in monetary form

Chisinau, Nov 8 /MOLDPRES/- The compensations for energy consumption in the cold season will be allocated in the form of monetary payment and will be paid before energy bills are issued. Parliament has adopted a law on the modification of the procedure for payment of compensations.

PAS MP Marina Morozova presented the draft in plenary. She said that citizens can register for compensation until November 28. Those who register after this date will receive compensation starting the following month. "Over 240 thousand people have already registered for compensation, which is a record number. If last year we had vulnerability categories last year, now the compensation will be calculated on an individual basis and the money will not be foreseen in the bill but will come in the form of a cash payment. The money will come in the same way as other social payments and will be paid before energy bills are issued," said the MEP.

According to the document, the government will establish the calculation method for the amount of compensation for vulnerable consumers based on the criteria and information from the Energy Vulnerability Information System.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will be the institution responsible for setting and calculating the compensation, ensuring a more streamlined and efficient process.

This season, compensation will be calculated on the basis of the specific energy vulnerability of each individual household. At the same time, households will be encouraged to use energy more efficiently, as unspent compensation funds can be redirected to other needs.
