New opportunities for young people from southern Moldova. University from Bulgaria opens branch in Taraclia

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ratified the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Bulgaria on the setting up in Moldova of a branch of the Angel Kanchev University from the Ruse city, Bulgaria. The branch will be opened at the headquarters of the Grigore Tambalac State University from the Taraclia city.
According to deputy secretary general of the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), Ludmila Pavlov, the branch will be created and will be financed from the budget of the Angel Kanchev University, under Bulgaria’s legislation.
The agreement will contain provisions on the organization of the education and scientific process at the new education institution, the teaching staff involved in this process, the languages of education and the way the transfer of students will be made from the Grigore Tambalac State University to the branch of the Angel Kanchev University.
Following the agreement’s ratification, Moldova’s government, through derogation from the Law on the administration and denationalization of the public property, will give the Bulgarian side possibility to use in bailment the assets of the Taraclia-based State University, being in charge of bearing the expenses for public utilities and their servicing. Under the agreement, both those about 150 students of the Grigore Tambalac State University and the academic staff will continue their activity at the new branch. At the same time, there will be possibility of studying with financing from the state budget at the new education institution, according to the plan on admission approved by Moldova’s authorities.
The agreement between the governments of Moldova and Bulgaria on the setting up of a branch of the Angel Kanchev University was signed on 26 March 2024.
