Judges who passed external evaluation to be appointed at Moldova's General Assembly of Judges

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - The judges who have passed the external evaluation in the two specialized colleges, Disciplinary College and the College for the selection and evaluation of judges, will be appointed at the General Assembly of Judges. Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru today welcomed the decision by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) to summon the General Assembly of Judges on 19 December.
According to the justice minister, 25 candidates submitted their files for the specialized colleges.
„Following the process of evaluation of the judges’ integrity, the Vetting Commission promoted 17. More exactly, 13 candidates registered for the position of member of the College for the selection and evaluation of judges; two ones withdrew and 11 magistrates passed the evaluation (nine judges and two – other legal professions). In the case of the Disciplinary College, six out of those 12 candidates passed the evaluation (all judges); three ones withdrew and another three candidates were turned down. The finishing of the evaluation of the candidates for the colleges of CSM, as well as the creation and work of the colleges are part of the commitments on the reformation of the administration bodies of the judicial system,’’ the minister said.
Today, the Superior Council of Magistracy ruled the summoning of the General Assembly of Judges for 19 December. The event is to be organized at the Palace of the Republic.
The last General Assembly of Judges took place on 28 April 2023. Over 300 magistrates participated in the event.
