Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan is to start working as of 1 January 2025. President Maia Sandu made statements to this effect at a meeting with her Kazakh counterpart Kasâm Jomart Tokaev in Baku today.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
„I met president of Kazakhstan, in order to discuss our partnership and the development of the economic cooperation with Kazakhstan. The opening of Moldova’s Embassy in Astana starting from 1 January is another step towards closer relations and new opportunities for our citizens,’’ the Moldovan president wrote.
In last August, the government, at a proposal by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, approved the opening of a new diplomatic mission of Moldova in Kazakhstan, headquartered in Astana. The new embassy will provide a more extended diplomatic presence of Moldova in this region and will facilitate the establishment of relations, through this country, with other states from the Central Asia. At the same time, the embassy will provide support to the Moldovan community from Kazakhstan, which has over 20,000 people.
