Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2024 continued the positive dynamic since the beginning of this year, recording a 2.4-per cent increase against the same period of 2023. The figures are contained in the fourth inflation report, unveiled by Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) Anca Dragu today.
„The GDP’s positive dynamic was backed, preponderantly, by the domestic demand on behalf of the residents, in the context of the increase in revenues in real terms, as well as on behalf of the economic agents. Yet, the external net demand exerted a negative impact on the GDP’s dynamic on this period,’’ Anca Dragu said.
As for the supply, the GDP’s growth in the second quarter of this year was due to the positive developments of the sectors of commerce, financial and insurances activities, information, communications and constructions.
„Less optimistic signals as regards the economic activity are outlined by the negative dynamic related to the real estate transactions and the transport and depositing sectors,’’ the BNM governor noted.
According to estimations by the Central Bank, the GDP will continue the positive dynamic in the third quarter of 2024 as well.
On the whole, in the first half of this year, GDP increased by 2.2 per cent against the same period of the year before.
