Moldova to cooperate with Bulgaria, to ensure continuity of supply with electric energy, gas, manage eventual crisis situations

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and Bulgaria will cooperate, in order to ensure the continuity of the supply with electric energy and natural gas and to efficiently manage eventual crisis situations. Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and his Bulgarian counterpart Vladimir Malinov today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this end at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku.
The memorandum provides for the creation of a joint working group for energy in a 30-day period after the singing, which will bring together representatives of the energy ministries from the two countries and the transport system operators for electric energy and natural gas. This group will have the task to develop and implement a joint action plan of solidarity measures, which is to be activated in case of energy crisis, at a request of one of the sides.
According to the Energy Ministry, the joint action plan will include measures for maintaining the balance in the energy and gas transport networks and will back the access of Moldovan companies to the infrastructure of storing and energy markets of Bulgaria. The memorandum sees also the enforcement of solidarity measures in case of a crisis, with the commitment that they are carried out without compromising the energy security of the providing country.
„The Moldovan-Bulgarian relations are particularly close, as Bulgaria is a partner of Moldova in more sectors: economic, social, education and energy. We are happy to develop this strategic partnership, which contributes to the stability and security of both states,’’ Minister Victor Parlicov said at the event.
The delegation of Moldova’s Energy Ministry, led by Minister Victor Parlicov, participates in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, on 11-22 November. The event brings together representatives of 197 countries and is focused on the green finances and the creation of a new fund, financed by producers of fossil energy resources, companies and countries, from which the countries hit by the climate changes should benefit.
